Re: Engcon Big Dig Day - Saturday 3rd March 2018

Received the Engcon news letter today. There is a write up about the Big Dig day. Anyone admitting to staring in the photos. I don't recognise anyone, but I haven't met that many people from the...

Re: Hitachi 8t safety alert

That was my thought. If there is a fault a riddling bucket is going to find it.

Shame the recall only went to first purchasers. Need some sort of register of second hand machines with manufacturer...

Saw this in the press. Not sure if anyone on here has one of the affected models.

On 21st March 2018 the arm of an excavator on a BAM Nuttall site failed due to undetected metal fatigue. A...

Re: So - an opinion - tiltys and prices !

If we had a like button I would have pressed it. A bunch of videos using the same machine to get a direct comparison would demystify a lot of black box stuff.
I have no idea what I have and to be...

Re: Risk matrix approach tp project management

On first reading I thought RAMS and the the standard martix, but this a risk matrix for the project management, not the actual work!
I guess getting estate agents to carry out your tender process...

Risk matrix approach tp project management

I'm in the process of filling out a tender and have come across this shit. "The company work on a risk matrix approach to project management. What do you see as the key risks and your mitigation...

Re: no one left to bid !!!

It's the normal weasel words. What is promptly? I would say a maximum of 30 days from invoice, but I'm sure with expensive lawyers and political donations it will be anything they want it to be....

Re: Druid’s New Duck – ’99 Hydrema-Wiemar M1500

Saw this kindling maker on YouTube and thought of you. A very neat design, in my opinion and to a man with your skills, pretty easy to make.

Re: Say cheese, you're on camera

It’s a tough one. I think it depends on the underlying intention. No operator is perfect and lots of sites have mandatory “safety” rules that are stupid, but if the internal camera is only used in...

Re: Estimate vs Quote

In my experience friends and family never appreciate what you do at friends rates, they still think you are ripping them off. So I either do it for free (for people I really like) or full price for...

Re: A duck snow clearing with a tiny snow bucket from a volvo L50 of 3.5 M3

That is a serious bucket full. I thought having an adapter to fit my mini loader buckets on my small walkers was excessive (1m3 bucket) but I guess not. I’ve never found anything light enough to use...

Re: New Forum Name

I think we need to try something. Doing nothing, like we have for the last few years hasn't worked. Julian has made it quite clear from his absense that he is not going to allow any changes on here....

Re: JCB X series ??

Just had a look through the brochure, the JCB launch video didn’t do it justice. There are loads of options that are nice to see, but I guess they are only options to keep the headline price down....

Re: New Forum Name

I can see where you are coming from and I think that is why a new forum hasn’t been started yet, but this one is dying. As you say, there just the same people going round the same arguements. Picture...

Re: Ifor williams gh1054

I prefer the flatbed trailers. More flexible if you want to fork pallets on and if you have extra wide stuff to shift it is not suspended across the sides. Just make sure you get the 8 foot aluminium...

Pages of comment before the big launch now very little comment? Did anyone go to the launch, seen it in the flesh?

Re: JCB X series ??

Just watched the launch video (had a paperwork day, so needed some light relief). Looked nice enough, incremental improvements which will undoubtedly make it better than the current 20 tonner, but...

Re: JCB X series ??

Just been looking at the spec for the new JCB electric mini. If it performs as suggested it will be pretty impressive. Able to get a whole day of stop start type work on one charge and a 2.5 hour...
