It is cause they use a roughly 1/2 inch foam and rubber seal that takes care of any roughness in the stone surface. Also a squirt of water over the face of the slab or kerb helps to settle the seal...

Doobin I work with these almost daily as i work for a national hire company in there lifting division (3 letters same as the clothing store) see if you can pick up a probst VPH 150 they have 2...

same here we had one before and sold it so when this one come along a few years ago it was mine no matter what. Place i used to work had all types of the green oval and used to struggle to drive them...
