Re: Cat 308E Hydraulics

Good point! A bucket hanging off a power tilt at full stretch is a fair weight!

It's been a long time since I worked on hydraulics - & when I did, it was real old stuff, old komatsu dozers & -1 series komatsu excavators! 😂

Re: Cat 308E Hydraulics

Hi Gra,

I don't normally operate it like that, I just noticed it & thought it wasn't right as I've never come across a machine that does that, it's a pain in the arse!! Sometimes you have to let...

Cat 308E Hydraulics

Hi,

I have a cat 308E, every time & only when I uncurl the bucket & hold it on the relief valve while extending the dipper, the dipper shakes violently. All the other services are smooth with no...

Re: New Holland E80msr

I run a fiat Kobelco e80msr, it's the same machine but it's orange instead of yellow. It's on 9700 hours & is still in daily use. It's a bit worn now & I've replaced both final drives in the last...

Re: Bucket Warehouse

I looked at their pallet forks at plantworx..... They looked so cheap & flimsy, I'd be scared to lift a pallet of blocks with them!! I ended up buying prodem forks, a lot more money, but well worth...

Re: Mark up on materials

Thank you for all your advice - much appreciated!! It's nice to see our business grow, but as I'm from an operating background not a business one, sometimes it can be a bit daunting!

Mark up on materials

Hi, we run a small plant hire business, but are starting to price our own jobs, I was just wondering what is an acceptable mark up percentage that we can put on the materials?

Was having a think about this subject & thought it'd be interesting to hear of other peoples experience with this.

Re: The joys of self drive hire!

That's the thing, when I looked at it, I could (on paper) make quite good money, but once you repair the damage, that they won't pay for, & factor in the time taken to do this, it's just not worth...

Re: The joys of self drive hire!

I'll think I'll leave the self drive to the big companies, who treat machines as just money earners, rather than part of the family like I do!!!!! 😃

The joys of self drive hire!

Just a quick rant, I have put my Kobelco e80 out on self drive hire....... In 3 weeks they have managed to rack up a blog of over 300 in damage. The machine used to be operated by myself, but I've...

Smile Re: Engine oil grade question

At least you know your engines are as up together as they can be! I change the fuel filter, eng oil & filter on my kobelco at 500 hrs, then all others & final drive oil at 1000hrs - seems to keep her...

Re: Engine oil grade question

It's the universal one, I only ask as I have a drum kicking about, (& I'm being tight) I'll stick to the 15/40, - much cheaper to buy the right oil, than a new engine! Thanks!

Engine oil grade question

Hi, I usually use 15w/40 oil in my kobelco E80 engine, but would it be ok to use 10w/30 when I come to replace the oil?

Re: 8 ton advice needed!

Good point! - that's pretty much what the wife says! (I can't tell her that though!) It's good to hear other peoples opinions. I must admit, I've seen alot newer machines in ALOT worse conditions!

8 ton advice needed!

Hi, I'm after some opinions, I bought a 2004 fiat kobelco E80 with 6800 hours on it about 18 months ago. It now has just over 8k. I've spent a bit of money on it - new tracks & a new final drive. The...

Re: E80 msr

My E80msr is the same, fine on the flat, but real sluggish when climbing, it's got plenty of power - it dozes with ease, but you just have to put up with the lack of speed!
