Your instructor is bang on....

Big bun fight on atm regarding skip lorries and loading.... DVSA have been fining people for doubling skips up etc etc....

If I get pulled it'll be interesting to see the outcome...

Does everyone use the old disc type tacos to record their working time or is there a book on the go that makes it easier?

Yes - I'd been interested what others do to record a mixed bag of work
Drive a bulk grain lorry a few days a week on the old analogue discs. So have to then record elsewhere my digger work...
....so anyone know what 'Best Practice' is or should be

Best practice would be Tacho charts/printouts alongside a Diary with times dates etc for our industry (e.g not full time lorry drivers).

Personally I just depend on Tacho charts, Most weeks we drive for less than 4 hours in total, let alone a day. If we where doing utilitys all the time I think i'm right in saying I would be exempt from even keeping a diary!

All a very rich web of rules and exemptions....

Thanks for your advice Rory. That's exactly what I do - folder with Tacho charts and Digi printouts, together with my Diary of 'Other Work'
Seems to cover all the bases

Be interested in what others do with a mix of part time driving and other work.....

To make it really easy although slightly expensive outlay how about a clocking in machine or machines
One in the office and one in each vehicle
And just tuck the cards inthe tacho pouch

Heres adigi one that could be carried around

Lyrics to a song by Frank Turner I've had stuck in my head for the past week. Occasionally change that bottom line every now and then.
