Will be interesting to see how far and gun hoe the police DVSA go... Trouble is although it's been a long time coming it is a utter legal minefield!

Pick a fight with the wrong farmer/driver/contractor and it may well be off to court and the DVSA/Police/CPS with egg on there face and setting the whole system back ten years..... Again.

Whole setup needs reform and a attitude change!.

I'd imagine they will have a widespread blitz for several weeks .... and will be ruthless ......
any one caught/stopped had better know the right answers - and give them ...

Rory, they will be VERY well gen.ed up on the subject and make sure they will only nail what they can successfully prosecute ....
too big an issue to get it wrong, or go at it half cocked.

no one gives a traffic cop enough credit for being on top of their game ...
they 99% of the time can quote you the reg.s verbatim ... and will be damned sure of 100% in this case ... town plod is a different animal.
I spent half my life with a bottomless pit of traffic law knowledge

The only tractor capable of passing a HGV type mot is a unimog at the moment although JCB are rumoured to be building a fast track capable of passing a hgv type test.

About time they bought non ag tractor movements under the microscope. I'm wondering if this is just an isolated case? Apparently the lads in question were running with sign writing but I don't know any details is ag or non ag?

If they want to catch very many they'll need to be out stopping eves and weekends as most are parked up outside their jobs during week days I would expect?

I would be very surprised if the current Purge doesn't include a few weekends and night shifts for the DVSA. We where informed 1st of March will be the start of a Major Purge by a friend of a friend. Fortunately our tractor movements are limited to Agricultural works.

R.E MOT's the roadworthiness test for a tractor/specialist vehicle is somewhat different to a HGV.

IMHO as said... needs a sort out and the rules bringing forward to match the modern day, that goes for tractors and Lorries under 10t. Laws are very very mixed and contradict each other In a big way, even when it comes to running a HGV....
