Default Road TAX

Has anyone had a new BHL or a Duck registered lately?

DVLA reckon this is all under ‘Special Type Vehicles’ now, with mobile cranes, mobile pumps, showmans vehicles, and HGVs and that the yearly Road fund license is £1585....!...WTF!

I’ve just sold a machine registered as a ‘Special Vehicle ‘ and it was iirc £165 a year, the new one is apparently going to be £1585!

Anyone had a similar issue?...

Yes, agreed, they tell me that DVLA are insistent on it!

Bloody ridiculous, and that table clearly shows where the mistake has been made! The big problem is that this is all sorted out via an automated system now, rather than speaking to someone who actually knows what their job is and has a ounce of common sense!

I don’t recall seeing a date on that table, is it definitely up to date? I’m sure it must be as the figures are exactly right?

Thank you for posting that, I must admit I haven’t tried searching for anything myself yet.

Says valid from April 2018 on it.

And the £1585 is mentioned on the first few lines and something to do with it been over 44t, but I only skim read it.

So it does, I’d not noticed the bit at the top

What a complete feck up this is now! Dealer has made a fiasco of this machine from start to finish! I think the lady who’s done that tax has done the best she can with the tools and info she has, and unfortunately when she questioned it with DVLA , they weren’t very helpful!
