Default Rates for 35ton excavators

Hi

I'm looking to hire in a 35ton excavator for 8 weeks on a muck shift were doing in merseyside, I have received rates off two companies I use and I have a price in mind, but I wanted to know what rates other companies are working for in general for this size machine.

Thanks Steve

What prices have you been quoted Steve and what do you think the rate should be ? I run Volvo EC 360B & C and would be looking for 45/hr plus fuel. Ours are 40 tonnes with 2.5m3 buckets. Will load A30 in 5 passes.

Trax

I have been quoted 40 for a Hitachi ZX350 with 10 per hour O/T. I don't think it will work along side a EC360 though to be fair. Having said that rates are not as good up north at the moment. I was also quoted 43.50 for a new PC360 and I know the operator is good on that machine so il probably go with this as 3.50 per hr is nothing if he can load 10-15 more trucks per shift.

I think you answered your own question... You pay for what you get, a good operator is worth a lot! Even An extra 10/hr can save thousands on a Big job, assuming it's managed well.

Sounds about right, the Zaxis used to be around 34 tonnes, the Komatsu about 37. Just make sure they don't come with quick hitch ...

Ah, well they shouldn't need that tool
Kit on a muck shift . Joking aside, there is a massive noticeable difference when bulk digging with a large machine when fitted with a QH. Bucket size. Breakout force, and the weight of the bloody thing seriously compromises productivity. A 2.5m3 Volvo bucket can be changed in 15 min. This may seem excessive but the bucket weighs 1.6 tonnes and is worth 8 grand. Gets changed then most often goes back to the yard. Mostly we only change over to large ditch cleaner type buckets for top soil stripping.
