morning tim,do you not think it might be a/or is a case of 'once biten twice shy'. I remember a couple of months ago when a this sort of thing had kicked off again that they said, something along the lines of that if it had happened to them, they wouldn't of come back on.so not sure whether that would work,i know myself it had happened to me,and I had thougth I had done/gone to the right place to sell/introduce myself ,on a forum that I was new to,and this had happened,i certainly wouldn't try again and would of told friends etc not to even have a look in cos of the way I was treated.i'm sure you realize that a lot lot of new members are directed to the site by 'word of mouth',purely because of the help given out and the crack that goes on,of which I would say happens 99% of the time,we just need to sort that last bit out so we don't have a weak link so to speak.just my thougths though

Good morning Ollie.
Yes i do agree. It could well be a case of once bitten twice shy ....... where the F did I go wrong ...

Seriously,.. what i meant and should have explained in more detail, is if julian or another removed their post , without any drastic comments having being directed at them, they could well have a re think and have another go at it in a better or more acceptable manner, especially if it were explained how they would best approach things in future. Im not trying to complicate things just saying all needn't be lost if the poster turns out to be genuine. as said many times things are totally different when a new poster introduces themselves a little and shows interest.

pretty undecided but at the moments stopping new posters even putting up any links is creeping ahead, makes sense to me. no need for any of this conversation then. no need to report posts, no need to chastise any new members either. problem solved surely?

this is such a big problem, here are some methods other forums are using. may be boring reading for many but for those interested in spam and why they do it..

May not be that practical. Just removing it and sending a standard automatic message might be something to think about.
