Default Cat D4D brake bands

Any help appreciated.
Trying to change brake bands on my D4D. Have followed the book of words so far!
Managed to disengage and get all the linkage out (top covers removed) and have seperated 1 of the 3 sections (through the plate holes on the back of the machine) but canít seem to rotate it round far enough (as stated in manuel) to separate final 2sections as the section with the protruding linkage joiner fouls on the back of the machine?
Canít imagine you have to take all the back off just to change a wear part?
Anyone any tips or clues ... many thanks in advance
Regards
G

There is a bolt under the Steering clutch compartment that holds the brake band in place .I would imagine it would need to be backed off to allow the brake band to move .If you have all ready done this ,I can't offer mush else as advise

Thanks for the input .... yes have removed that bolt.
Noticed today that there is a return spring on the steering clutch lever mechanism that if removed might give a bit more room to rotate the band so I can get the final 2 sections apart (not mentioned in the manual!) got to be worth a go!
Thanks again

Thumbs up Re: Cat D4D brake bands

Thanks for the info .... got great advice on ACMOC site ... break bands now out of machine and sent off to specialist to be relined.
Just for info... it turns out you have to remove the steering clutch springs to get the last 2 break band sections out (really think they should mention stuff like that in the manual!!!!!!)
Thanks again
G
