I can't read the model number on the photos, but it looks like an SMC MX14-1, developed in conjunction with 'Imef' and built in Italy. SMC badged Japanese built Nagano mini excavators from 1999 until the early 00's.

SMC had in 1994 bought the assets of Small Excavators Ltd in 1994.

After the original Hanix organsiation closed in 1993, Nagano (then called NKK) resumed production in Japan of old Hanix designs- apparently Mitsubishi were involved in design and product development for a while.
Hanix Europe was fully acquired in 2000 and production in Manchester ceased and from then on all machines came from Japan.

Just a slight update, apologies for the poor quality i have a truly terrible phone Im currently working for myself while on summer holidays from university as i cant find any jobs Ive been kept relatively busy doing a bit of everything from paving, landscaping to drainage. Did my first piece of damage to a piece of equipment while moving timber and smashed the windscreen on the cx130, not a nice feeling first thing in the morning on a new job but we all make mistakes and lesson learned

Cheers Aiden, im not quite as busy as id like because of this awful weather we've been having but im kept ticking over thankfully enough! The father took the broken window surprisingly well, as he said himself shit happens and hes done a lot worse! A few pints that evening took the edge off anyway

Today has been one of those days you'd rather forget!! i had arranged to do a bit of a clearance and fencing job first thing this morning, got there with the mini digger already delivered, it was a bloody hour and a half before the owner arrived to open the gate for me though!! Got through the work no problem, had all my concrete posts in and concreted, was ready to put the wire up and uh-oh, some gobshite left all the wire on another job 3/4 of an hour away! Frustrating but on a positive note, i'll get another bit of work out of it tomorrow
The machine was a 3 tonne hitachi zero tail, nice machine, id still prefer the case/ new holland range of minis even so it wasnt a bad place to be. My biggest complaint would be about the amount of play in the bucket due to the piece of crap spring loaded quickhitch

Good to see your keeping busy... take the Quick hitch off, can't get a full bucket with one of those weighing you down.

Ye pretty busy with things lately between college and work, plenty of manual labor but i do like to be out of the cab as well so its all good!!

As for the quick hitch without wanting to start up the debate, i completely understand why tim doesnt use/ need them in his line of work, but i also think they do have their place in groundworks on 13 to 20 tonne machines. Dont see the point of them on mini diggers though, its so quick and easy to pull the pins on them.

Well i am in the process of designing a slim line hitch for bucket changing for those that can't change a bucket quickly !! My ejector bucket seemed to work well after a few teething problems and a beefing up of the reaction bar oh and teeth fitted to help break up the stodge.
