I have a good mate of the same age who makes models from scratch called Alan....he uses brass tube, plastic, bits of old tv aerials, and usually robbs wheels for his models from other die cast models as the wheels are the one thing he can't produce himself.

Yes I have the same problems. Wheels and tracks are the biggest problem. I am not happy with the tracks here which I have made from plastic tubing and sheet. A lot of time and patience, 64 links each made from 8 pieces. Also the sprockets, rollers and front idlers are a pain to make. At least now I am retired I have time to waste doing it.
I have been making models of all the older equipment I have driven. Next on the plan is a CAT D6B which I have started.

Very detailed brilliant I've got a model of a unimog (a bought kit) put the doors on the cab and then got fed up with it that's 8 years ago now still in the shed waiting to get finished (well started)

very short attention span

Paul.

That is very impressive. You have a lot more patience than me and a darn sight better eye for detail thats for sure.
