1930 is about the time we start commonly seeing cavity walls instead of solid wall construction, although we used both methods for a good few years after that too.
got to say giles thats a cracking plot, cant be easy to see a house youve owned for so long crumble to dust, be interested to see what goes in its place, i can only imagine it will be a beaut!

My house is 1902 solid walls no cavity cold when the heating knocks off

Yep I'll keep you all updated big dog out next 3m basements and reinforced concrete to do

Although dads trying to buy the local pub as we speak haha, parents are living in cottage at the bottom of the hill by the river

I'm not the fussed about the house, I moved out at 18 to my own house and I think the location is more what my memories are as kids we were never in the house always out and about,

no it'll be moved in the week by dad and the labourer to storage in the field then used to back fill correct levels once the house is built, or lost on other bits of the land

I see. Looking at the size of the excavation he must have double or treble handled some of that muck. Surely straight into the dumper would be the cost effective method. The old fella knows how to keep himself in work

Yep he's taking his time, but he's in no rush. Graham guy driving machine works for me but used to be cards in with my dad's firm for 25 years until he retired out to Spain, but got bored of retirement so came back haha.

Dads moving it with 6 ton dumper, got the trailer there that takes 12 ton but they like their pace lol
