Default Yanmar vio25 oil warning light/alarm

Following on from my other thread about where to find the oil drain plug on my Yanmar mini digger, I'm now struggling with a more worrying problem.

I changed the oil and filter because the oil pressure warning light was coming on once the engine had warmed up - it would start off flashing (and beeping) intermittently and then would stay on.

Once I'd changed the oil (but used the old filter) I had the same experience (i.e., light coming on once the engine had warmed up). The oil is 5w/40 fully synthetic.

I've now replaced the filter with a new one, and because I'd had the filters off again put another 1/2 ltr of oil in. However on start up the warning light stayed on immediately.

Checking the oil level I realised it was overfilled, so I drained off 3/4 litre. It's now at the right level.

But the warning light is still staying on from start up, i.e., the situation has worsened since changing the oil and filter.

Apart from the warning light the engine is running sweetly.

The question is, where do I start with my next round of fault finding?

Could I have damaged it by overfilling?

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

DD

First port of call would be the pressure sensor if the engine is running sweet.

About as east as you can get, on the confluence of Devon, Dorset and Somerset. Always happy to have someone help out with my old machines...

PM me your location... If you'd like a hand, One is likely to be heading North East on Sunday afternoon. Can you also get the engine model number as I can quite likely thieve a oil pressure switch of one of my diggers to trouble shoot yours.

That depends entirely on whether he's from Dorset or not

Is 5w/40 the correct spec oil for this engine?
