Would something like a Stanley trigger clamp be strong enough?

Do away with the problem altogether and use screw on like Atlas & Hydrema quite why Druid removed his I'm still not 100 sure

I am really flat face are easier to source when you first start looking and it can be an easy enough decision.

Whether that is true later on and experience shows it would be better to stay with screw on I cannot confirm or deny.

I cant see it been any where near strong enough and as druid said you would need arms like popeye to press it in!

Car jack idea would be best option or a spring claml maybe?

The quick on clamp works on a cantilever idea to get the pressure needed

If your changing fittings a fair bit the tool is worth it's cost, seconds each fitting job done, end of story...

I tried screw on, but once you get a bit of sand on them you can't get them clean. At least with flat face you can wipe them clean each time.
I'm sure when I bought my easy on it was about 80, so someone is making a huge markup now.

well I can confirm that ............... I won't be refitting the screw type Rob ... PITA cleaning up after 'em and keeping them clean.
The FFs can be an occasional PITA but no mess and easy to keep clean.
Plus they're a damned sight quicker and no bruised knuckles.
Still got the BIG screw ons, on her, on the change-over from the crowd, but they get used so infrequently, I'll live with them ...... for now, anyway.
