Got some asphalt down at last, 840 tons done yesterday and about 600 to finish today. Busy month ahead on the site I'll be glad to get on a plane on the 16th for a 2 week holiday
Rob accounts dept as you say are partly to blame but actually I think It comes down to a cultural thing , these guys just lie for fun. If they thought they would gain from it they'd argue all day that the sky is green. I was given some sound advice when I came over and that was to forget about working at home because you will drive yourself insane if you keep trying to push for those standards and sadly he was right.
Mike, water the only thing added! Keep wetting and rolling once it's not dune sand it will compact then throw down the sub Base. Have seen them try soil stabilisation adding cement but was a lot of prep work and in the end not fantastic results.
PD I'll root out the mix design were using, short answer is yes it's different design pavement here is a lot smoother of a finish as well as finer aggregate used so like an ice rink when they get wet.
