We shot in to North London and bought an I&T tractor service manual for 26 quid..... from Technical publications, Good value i would say. Good service too.

Trax, is there anything in particular you're looking for about the 444?

Hi Richard, i have stripped the whole unit out from clutch to crownwheell in order to clean the whole thing up and replace any worn parts. The skid unit, (not the whole tractor) is used in the 2525C forktruck. I have a parts book comming and the service manual from A&T should cover it i think.

Good job you got the A&T manual, finding an old IH service book would not be easy......does it have a mechanical forward/reverse shuttle in it? did it have any faults before you went in?....jumping out of gear, hand brake band worn out?

It has a forward reverse gear mechanism. We drained the oil and found water, so took the top covers off. One drive pinion, diff output, had a tooth crumbled. Two layshaft gears are worn and the revererse gearon a compound unit in the reverse forwardgear.I used to work on them but long long ago. Can't get the F'ing diff lock plunger out.....
