Hi mate, Morning !! I put it down to internal corrosion. Diesels should allways be run with inhibitor, as we run our machines with antifreeze all year round we dont have these oxidation corrosion problems. The leak waws from the water jacket near the base of No 2 cylinder and into the oil gallery that that predominantly feeds the camshaft bearings.

I would love it to be out on a job mate but we have a wet winter now the snow has gone. We run a traditional muckshifting business and are used to a few months shut down. Some years we plow on through, depends on the work we are doing.

Basically with the Big outfits, first heavy rains in october usually means shut down until the beggining of April. We don't work like that and we do get other types of work, site clearing, demolition, gravel hauling, ditch and river work etc. However we do allow and are prepared for a winter shut down.

To clock up the hours they used to work 7 to 7 seven days a week. every fouth weekend they would knock off friday lunch time for a weekend then back to work Monday lunch. Most of them had other part time jobs. It does not happen so much now but you can't work soils in the wet !! .Bob would be a good guy to ask more.
