Default Bit of welding

The company I do a fair bit of haulage for asked me if I could stick a few teeth carriers onto a Doppstadt 3060 slow speed shredder as it was needed to go to a customer first thing in the morning, so glued ten on then loaded it onto my truck ready for delivery to sunny Scunthorpe

Now bare with me I have access to a TIG welder and thought how hard can it be weld aluminium well Iíll tell you........

Needed to make my batteries on the lorry a bit safer than two bungee clips so made a folder for my hydraulic press

Then cut some scrap aluminium into the right size with the plasma cutter then bend it to the right shape

Only had to weld it up, took about 2 hours from first picking up the torch practicing on a few bits of scrap to welding this up

Only the bottom bit the top box I found and bolted it on

So in conclusion not as hard as I thought

What does somebody shred with that shredder? Friend of mine has been Tig welding for many years sometimes on the weekends for extra cash he welds performance mufflers for snowmobiles, motorcycles, cars, and trucks.

Needs to be nice and clean , also like a good bit of heat. I find it can be therapeutic welding alu when it runs in nice . It can also be a nightmare on an old scabby bit of a truck you can't get cleaned

The mattress springs don't get wound around the moving bits? That's some beast grinding up those logs like that.
