Default Thwaites 6t dumper cutting out

As per title

Just picked up a s/h thwaites dumper. If it's at standill you can keep the revs up without it cutting out but if you travel over 50yds with the revs up it cuts out. Give it a min and it'll start up and you can do the same.

Any ideas?

Cheers tia

Would have thought fuel starvation the most likely culprit. Check filters and any crud sieve in the base of the tank.

Might also be air getting into the fuel line, although that would usually make it harder to start. Check for any joints in the fuel line or at the pump needing nipped up.

I would think the fuel tank is on a gravity feed to the injector pump, but if there's a fuel pump, mechanical or electrical, it might be playing up.

It may be worth disconnecting the stop solenoid, the may be a wire shorting out causing it to stop. Or is there a switch in the seat with dodge wiring.

would it be safe enough for me to take a live straight from the battery and run it like that or would i be risking something else?

To the seat switch

It will fry his cheeks every time he sits down, and cut out every time he gets up

PMSL ...... don't think there is one on a 6t Thwaites ... or it'd be on / off like a whores draws on rough ground
Certainly ain't one on mine

I assume he means to the stop solenoid

haha. yes i mean the stop solenoid. Im not into fifty shades stuff

so I went ahead and put the feed straight from the battery and it runs fine...
Except it now uses water more than moses could shift! could the cut out be a safety feature?

Why didn't you run the new live from the back of the key switch, so it stops on the key?

Or even better, run a continuity test on the original stop wire which must come off the back of a key.

You need a multimeter.
