Yes mate, thats your blue card. Depending on categories on back, you may have to do 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, modules.
If you have 180 & 360 you'll do 1 module (exc & load ) iirc

If you have a dozer, thats a different module

Again, loading shovel, wheeled or tracked is another module.

The module matcher on the link above will show exactly which modules you need to take.

Its a sad fact of life today that the card gets you on site, experience is something completely different.

Exactly and its free. They may not ask for the book, in which case no dramas. If they ask and you haven't got it, it then becomes an expensive time consuming pita.

OK rob. I got mine on grandfather rights, then probably 10_15 years later I got tested on 180 and 360 above 10t . So I am surprised that I will have to be tested again, this winds me up and not sure why I bother with it

You don't need testing again. The module is a simple touchscreen test similar to the Health & Safety one and do able at same location and time.

Obviously any practical advice would be gratefully received.
Have done a loads of work that could go into a log book for S/NVQ and validation etc.
For example - can I self verify or should it be an approved validator?
I've just got my red card too. I asked the test center about converting to blue and it seems there are two options. One is expensive and the other more expensive!! Seemed the best way was to spend another day in the classroom, along with a small bit of practical and you achieve your blue card in one day. The other involved a site visit, you needed to have an excavator on site over 10t and be able to show a verity of tasks being carried out, some on the spot questions are asked blah blah blah. Strangely this option was 200 more expensive

Let me know how you get on, the whole CPCS thing seems pretty disorganised to me and damn expensive!
