seen a few real tough times Rory - '80s, '90s, noughties, but that one wasn't so bad ... we do not need yet another bugger ....

what is needed is a government, who's members don't have their fingers in so many pies, that they actually reform company law in the UK, to weed out the tw*ts with no working capital and who survive purely on other people's

very interesting page I tripped over, looking for a different name .....

https://www.creditman.co.uk/news/win...17th-may-2018/

" Winding Up Petitions (Companies) Notices – 17th May 2018

The following companies have had Winding Up Petitions issued against them which have been advertised in “The London Gazette”
"

the name Carillion seems to feature highly in the list of 'wind ups'.

haven't seen this reported elsewhere

Lots on the Gov inquiry though .... interesting reading

so then they go and do this FFS

"Interserve has secured a five-year extension to its facilities management contract with the Foreign & Commonwealth Office."

https://www.theconstructionindex.co....office-janitor

and as for this as an idea ....like this is ever going to happen let alone work

"Contractors working on government projects will in future be required to make ‘living wills’ setting out contingency plans for their corporate failure."

https://www.theconstructionindex.co....e-living-wills

Gra, this thread is a sad reflection of how the construction industry is in this country. Your last few posts about directors from Carrillion being snapped up by other competitors says it all. Clearly some of them were doing their job and making money but a majority must of been in charge of the large failing elements within the firm and yet they find another job....
Maybe their contacts with various departments of the government are worth more than their ability to direct a company?

And Interserve extending their contract despite posting heavy losses would suggest I'm right. The government said they were going to "stress test" firms that work for them only a few months ago when Carrillion went down. And yet here they are employing the services of another company that seems to be in trouble...

Maybe there's more to it than we know? - like brown envelopes in peoples desks!
